Few details are as iconic as an Omega Speedmaster with the classic engraved seahorse (Hippocampus) and the “SPEEDMASTER” inscription on the case back. These vintage features lend the watch a distinct character and an authentic wearing experience. The reference 145.022-69 was introduced in 1969 and produced until around 1971. It is the last Speedmaster Professional to feature a case back without any reference to the Moon landing – which is why collectors affectionately refer to it as a “Pre-Moon.” This model also marks the end of an era: it is the final Speedmaster to feature the so-called “stepped dial” – a slightly recessed, multi-level dial design still prized today for its depth and timeless aesthetic.
